A goal we strive to meet with Paragon Eco-Adventures is to share the beautiful outdoor environment we have here in Canada, through safe, enjoyable, environmentally conscious tours and outdoor experiences.
The term "Eco-Tourism" has a wide variety of definitions. Paragon defines it as responsible travel in natural areas in which the natural environment is preserved and the welfare of local people is respected and improved. Simply stated eco-toursim cannot survive unless the resource it is based upon is protected. The resource can be local people and culture as well as the physical environment. We pride ourselves on our protective environmental practices and the small footprint we leave in the outdoors.
What we do on our outdoor experiences to meet the definition of Eco-Adventures:
- Active Partner of Leave No Trace Canada (www.leavenotrace.ca)
- Practice Leave No Trace guidelines
- Purchase more than 80% of our food and supplies from the areas we tour
- Purchase Eco friendly, organic food and cleaning products for our road trips
- Partner with local businesses to offer our clients a more rounded experience- keep tourism revenues in the area we travel
- When possible hire local guides, interpreters, and naturalists
- Select low impact activities for the outdoors- road cycle touring is one of the lowest impact outdoor activities
- In town support vehicle burns Bio-Diesel fuel
- Bike chain lube and bike cleaners are all natural and Biodegradable
